Delightfully retro, conceived by Italian designer Vico Magistretti and now produced by Artemide

The Eclisse Table Lamp is inspired by an eclipse.
It has a globular shape that not only mimics the shape of the sun and moon, but also mimics the astronomical event of either a lunar or solar eclipse. The outer orange layer contains an inner silver one that revolves slowly around to hide and then expose the light source to provide partial or total diffusion.
This petite lamp is available in white, orange or silver grey lacquered steel.

Originally conceived by Italian designer Vico Magistretti in 1967, the Eclisse Table Lamp is being produced again by Montreal-based lighting manufacturer Artemide. Its delightfully retro design will capture the hearts of today's nostalgic society. The Eclisse Table Lamp is made out of metal and works with the incandescent light bulbs that were used back when it was first made.

Magistretti was born in Milan in 1920, the city in which he graduated in architecture in 1945, and where his professional career has spun its story ever since, chiefly in the fields of architecture, town planning and industrial design.

Founded in 1960s, Artemide is one of the most known illumination brands in the world. Known for its "The Human Light" philosophy, Artemide is nowadays synonym with design, innovation and made in Italy. Artemide’s products are much more than highly refined design objects, ensuring a top technical performance – they are objects born from man’s experience to satisfy man’s needs. Since the 1990s, with the launch of the The Human Light philosophy, promoted by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Artemide has changed the way to conceive and develop its products. The guiding idea was to start from people’s needs in terms of light, and understanding first and foremost how to respond to individual needs in the different spaces and stages of life.
